Immutable vault solution for backups, DORA and NIS2 compliant, hosted in Luxembourg

Immutable, sovereign, and compliant with the 3-2-1-1-0 rule. Labgroup offers an external immutable vault, designed to securely store a copy of existing backups.

This innovation goes beyond a simple backup tool: it offers companies a true last line of defense, compliant with European regulatory requirements, and guarantees unalterable data protection.

In a context marked by cyberattacks and the entry into force of the DORA and NIS2 regulations, this solution enables organizations to strengthen their resilience and ensure seamless business continuity.

Hosted in Labgroup’s data centers in Luxembourg, the solution benefits from a sovereign and highly secure infrastructure that meets local and international standards. “Our vault goes beyond backup solutions: it is immutable,” insists David Capolungo, head of IT teams at Labgroup. Once a backup is created, its content cannot be modified. This ensures that backup data remains exactly as it was when it was created, protecting it from unauthorized or accidental changes.

No hidden costs during restores

Initially, the 3-2-1-1-0 backup rule. In concrete terms, this means adding an unalterable copy that does not produce any restore errors. This improved approach lays the essential foundations for modern data protection and business continuity. “An unalterable or completely isolated copy is essential in modern environments, as ransomware increasingly targets backups. If your only protection is connected to your network, it can be compromised. By ensuring that at least one copy is inaccessible or immutable, restoration remains possible even in the worst-case scenario.

Beyond security, Labgroup places transparency at the heart of its offering: no hidden costs for data restoration or when changing providers. This gives companies complete control over their data and IT budget. In this regard, the service is billed monthly at a price of €14 per TB (excluding a one-time entry fee). “Unlike some cloud services, there are no surprises: customers have direct access to their data without lengthy and costly searches. And they can manage it as they see fit,” continues David Capolungo.

S3 access provides peace of mind, with no risk of “locking”

The solution was built using Datacore’s Swarm technology, which allows S3/HTTP access to applications, devices, or end users. Swarm transforms data archives into a flexible and immediately accessible content library, enabling remote workflows, on-demand access, and massive storage scalability. “S3 access is reassuring. For Veeam and CommVault customers, it’s a guarantee of continuity and independence. No risk of locking!”

While the financial sector was the first to show interest in this offering, Labgroup is targeting a broader market based on the wide scope of NIS2. More broadly, the Grass-based service provider aims to raise awareness among all companies and organizations concerned about their cyber resilience.

“Our mission is to enable organizations to be ever more resilient and maintain control over their data,” David Capolungo reiterates and concludes.“With this solution, we are confirming our commitment: ‘Your documents. Your data. Our business.’”
